Located along Provincetown’s harbor with views out to the bay and the historic lighthouse, this vacation home for rent in Cape Cod is an homage to the region’s seafaring past and the town’s renowned artistic spirit.
Built for a sea captain in the 19th century, the home was divided into two separate residences, with the owners and designers residing on the main floor and separate loft-style apartment on the upper floor.
The interiors are cheerful and breezy with grey-lilac shiplap walls, original wood floors and exposed beams, and the brick chimney sprouting through the middle of the room.
Restored by a husband and wife design team, the duo introduced subtle modern updates without sacrificing historic value. Low slung 1920’s French club chairs invite conversation in the sitting room adjacent to the open kitchen with counter seating, with a collection of art and objects, old and new specifically curated for the home.
There are two double bedrooms with expansive water and garden views and windows that open to the sea breeze, one with a separate private entrance.
The spacious veranda in the redesigned gardens is for dining and lounging al fresco and star gazing on warm summer nights just a few steps from the shore.

AROUND
Sitting at the very tip of the cape over sixty miles into the Atlantic, Provincetown’s fame as the Pilgrims historic landing spot has given way over the years to America’s oldest artists colony for some of the country’s most notable writers and artists seeking refuge in the area’s stunning natural beauty and vibrant, creative ideals. Steeped in history, P-Town is a spirited and tight knit community that has thrived through the years as a freewheeling destination and open, artistic hive of creativity. Eminently walkable and bike-able, there are an abundance of art galleries and well-known restaurants along the bay and miles of shoreline and interiors to explore.
Divided into east and west ends, the town is a mere three blocks wide and culminates at the Long Point Lighthouse to the north and the National Seashore to the south.
Noted for it’s stunning 44,000 acres of protected coastline, marshes, lagoons and forests (courtesy of JFK), the dedicated nature preserve is some of the most pristine and least developed in the country.
One of New England’s best and most laid-back summer playgrounds, the town is an hour north of the Kennedy stronghold of Hyannis and the jumping off point to Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard and the Massachusetts mainland.
