Escape to the woods in the this lovely off-grid cabin rental in Ontario. Tucked away among the forests and marshlands, mid-way between Toronto and Montreal, the cabin is located at the doorstep of the legendary 1000 Islands region of the St. Lawrence River.

Set on the edge of a high rocky ridge, the cabin overlooks acres of private wetlands and woodlands.

Built almost entirely of locally harvested cedar, pine and spruce, it was designed to be a reflective, restorative and calming place of refuge. Its architecture combines traditional materials and contemporary aesthetics in a fusion of Scandinavian and West Coast modern style.

The open-plan living space with south-facing floor-to-ceiling windows and skylights provide a constant visual connection to the surrounding land, with a central wood burning stove adding comfort and warmth.

The unplugged galley kitchen is well equipped with propane fueled cooktop and a traditional ice box. Up the ladder stairway is the cozy loft bedroom for two tucked away in the eves with skylights overhead for star gazing.

The deck which includes a barbecue overlooks the wilderness is an ideal spot for dining and reconnecting with nature.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

Entirely off-grid but with all of the basic comforts and amenities including: kitchen supplies (propane fueled cooktop, ice box and essentials), bottled water for drinking and washing, firewood for wood stove heat, bed and bath linens.

It’s a few minutes hike through the forest from your parking spot, so pack lightly in easy-to-carry bags (ideally not large suitcases) and be sure to wear footwear suitable for sometimes wet and rough conditions.
