Located on the border of the Shikotsu-Toya National Park at the base of Mount Yōtei, this holiday home in Hokkaido is a distinctively modern take on a traditional Japanese country chalet.

Built with love and meticulous attention to detail by Florian Busch Architects, the house is in direct communication with the natural environment.

Climbing two stories high with soaring interiors, the wide entrance hall extends into the house, culminating in a terrace, giving the house the appearance of a gateway.

Sophisticated and modern, the spaces are luxurious but quietly understated, with both natural woods and sleek contemporary finishes.

The floating stairs lead to generous living and dining areas with framed views of Mount Yotei and calming minimalist decor.

The master bedroom also looks across to Yotei, while the guest bedroom and bathroom with its freestanding tub both overlook Mount Annupuri and the forests.

The deck immerses you into the private and quiet rear gardens, where you  can practice the calming practice of Shinrin Yoku: The Art of Forest Bathing.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

On site concierge services. Frequent and free “door to gondola” shuttle bus service is available in ski season. Housekeeping included. Wifi throughout with LCD TV and DVD player, kitchen and bath amenities, laundry facilities, ski and gear room, garaged parking.
