Nestled into the mountain ridge above the town of Torno and surrounded by conservation land, this luxury villa for rent in Lake Como is located in a supremely private spot with breathtaking views of the southern most portion of the lake.

Grafting an ancient stone structure and quarry to a newly remodeled wing, the restoration uses natural materials and a monochromatic palette to integrate the two.

The relationship between the living spaces and the historic aspects of the building were given priority, with earthy materials used in a contemporary way to impart a sense of tradition.

The original structure was preserved with an annex built on top, and an expansive new wing with massive windows facing the garden and the surrounding landscape.

The main living room features sliding glass doors that lead out to an adjoining terrace overlooking the spectacular lake views.

The kitchen was built into the old stone remnants and features a fireplace and dining area, and there are four en suite bedrooms tucked away upstairs in the building’s rustic stone and timber eaves.

The basement’s illuminated rock interiors are all history, with the giant boulders serving to remind you that this was once a quarry, and have been transformed into a chic and relaxing wellness area with a bio-sauna and Turkish bath.

The lush terraced gardens include a hot tub, hot and cold water showers, and a relaxation area from where you can gawk at the amazing views.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

Wifi throughout, LG OLED satellite TV and 4K HDR Dolby cinema screen with Netflix and Amazon Prime streaming service, decoder, DVD, Bluetooth enabled stereo system. Kitchen and bath amenities, laundry facilities.

Please note that parking is below the villa with a flight of stairs that require good mobility (there is a porter to bring your luggage).

AROUND

For centuries this exclusive enclave has been a celebrated destination for royalty, aristocrats and celebrities to play and enjoy the unparalleled beauty of Italy’s northern lake region. Based at the foothills of the Alps and offering dramatic scenery of the surrounding mountains and the crystal clear waters, Lake Como’s iconic character and natural beauty are uniquely atmospheric and impressive.

The medieval village of Torno sits at the tip of a promontory at the southern end of the lake a few miles north of Como and a short boat ride or drive from Bellagio. The picturesque, car-free village is crossed by a tangle of alleys at the historic center where you’ll discover the ancient and well preserved churches, piazzas and architecture.

Dotted with charming villages and spectacular villas along both legs of the lake, the eponymous town of Como is at the southern most tip of the western branch. The busy waterfront city has a long history and orbits around the “centro storico” old town, with picturesque piazzas and historic duomos, cafes and a more lively urban feel.

A great launching spot for exploring the region, the ferries are the best way to take in the many lake vistas and visit the famed towns of Bellagio, Tremezzo, and Varenna.
