AROUND 

The small hilltop village of Vezzanello boasts stunning views from its perch of the Carrara region and the neighboring Appennino Alps and National Park and makes an excellent base for exploring the far western region near the Tuscan coast. 

Noted for the prevalence of the charming and characteristic Medieval stone villages and castles, this verdant area is remarkably untouched by tourism. There are many hiking trails and outdoor adventure  in the surrounding areas, and the Mediterranean coast is within an hour drive with the beautiful beaches of Lerici and San Terenzo and charming seaside towns.

The neighboring towns of Massa, Sarzana and Carrara, home of the fabled marble used by Michelangelo, are all under an hour away. 

The Spezia region sits along the Ligurian Coast comprised of the “The Five Lands” of Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore and is just a short distance from stunning UNESCO heritage site of the Cinque Terre. 

This is a rugged stretch of the Italian Riviera and is part of the National Park. The beautiful central village of colorful terraced homes is perched along the cliffs overlooking the sea and is one of the most visited spots in Italy.

Pisa and Lucca are ninety minutes south and Genoa is under two hours north and make great day trips.
