Cited by The Los Angeles Times as “one of the best houses of all time in Southern California,” the accolade is richly deserved. Peaceful and remote, this pre-engineered environmentally constructed concept home is part of a design system developed by architectural firm Taalman Koch.
Set in a pristine and remote part of the California desert, you are miles away with absolutely stunning and very private desert views from every angle.
The walls of glass allow a magnificent relationship with the landscape, and the interlocking aluminum frame, polished concrete floors and “plaid” exterior grids create an industrial aesthetic that compliments the desert environment. The open plan interiors feature chic and imaginative furnishings and a mix of vintage modern and rustic handcrafted items along with a central suspended orb fireplace. A fully equipped kitchen and dining area communicate directly with the central living space creating a bright expansive feel.
The bedrooms are surrounded by glass and offer dreamy and dramatic spots for sleeping and enjoying the views and the adjacent bathroom opens out to an interior courtyard.
Powered entirely by solar energy, the design observes key environmental principals of smaller footprint, minimal disturbance to the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape, use of renewable resources, and living simply and minimally. A blissfully peaceful refuge with breathtaking scenery in all directions, low impact has never looked so good.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES
As the name suggests, the house is entirely off grid and there is no internet, wifi or television. The kitchen is fully equipped. Laundry facilities with all linens provided.
