AROUND
This Sandpiper townhouse is walking distance to the luxurious shopping and restaurants of El Paseo, considered “the Rodeo Drive of the desert.”
Activities and amenities include some of the best hiking and biking trails in the world, mountain views, architecturally-stunning swimming pools, putting greens, and tennis courts within a short 5-minute walk.
Located in Palm Desert just a 15-minute drive to Palm Springs, like its neighbor, Palm Desert is backed by the San Jacinto mountains that rise above the desert floor and are lined with miles of hiking trails at a cooler elevation (the Bump and Grind Loop is a local favorite, a 3-mile trek that climbs 960 feet and culminates in a panoramic view of Palm Springs).
The town is a mecca of resorts and country clubs, with the central El Paseo square lined with boutiques, restaurants and art galleries. Part of the greater Coachella Valley, the area plays host to the annual music and arts festival every Spring.
Both Joshua Tree National Park and the breathtaking Indian Cove are within an hour’s drive from the house. There are several unique attractions and interesting local museums and art venues to visit such as the Noah Purifoy Outdoor Desert Art Museum, and the famed Integratron as well as the historic Pioneertown. A kitschy Hollywood relic founded in the 1940s as an authentic frontier town movie set, today there are a few shops, cafes and galleries to visit including the famous Pappy and Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace.
The Sandpiper is also not far from the Temecula wineries, olive and lavender farms, mountain towns such as Idyllwild, and the tram in Palm Springs.
The healing arts are also a big part of the culture here; there are spas and wellness offerings galore, and you can even go for a day soak at Two Bunch Palms, with its tranquil hot spring pools, just 30 minutes away.
The owner has created a guide, featuring all that the area has to offer, here.
