This vacation rental in Big Sur has a main house and a separate guest house, with four bedrooms total and three bathrooms. It can accommodate up to 10 people and rents by the month.
The main structure’s double-height living room, framed by spectacular posts and beams, has two staircases on either side, leading up to a loft and an adjacent master suite with custom built-ins, a clawfoot soaking tub and south-facing deck. This space’s entirety is gigantic and open, with floor-to-ceiling windows that give views of the whole coastline. And it’s filled with treasures; a womb chair, wood sculptures carved like twisted ropes, and a delightful lamp made from seashells.
One floor below is the integrated living area, another bedroom and a lounge space with a horseshoe bar, along with a communal serpentine-and-driftwood tub and an additional bath and shower. On the top floor, there is another bedroom with its own north-south deck and private entrance. Also on the property is a separate guest house on stilts, with an additional bedroom and bathroom that was inspired by the area’s iconic hotel, Post Ranch Inn, with its famous wood and glass treehouse-style rooms.
Outside, mature gardens sprawl across its 17 acres, and on the raised yoga and mediation platform, we wish we could transport ourselves to one of the concerts that took place.

Novelist Herbert Gold called it “one of the grand American retreats for those who nourish themselves with wilderness”, and Henry Miller described it as “the face of the earth as the Creator intended it to look.”
