Born in 2016 from a collaboration between friends – an agronomist, the other an entrepreneur, this villa for rent in Sicily is where their love affair with the island began.
Combining a striking yet subtle sense of modern design and an innovative approach to agriculture, each of the disciplines fulfills their philosophy of subtle intervention and enhancement of nature, culture, and traditions.
Spread over a vast and scenic 23 hectares of olive, almond, and carob groves overlooking the sea, the property is an active farm that cultivates organic and traditional Sicilian crops, combining innovative methods to revive and celebrate the rural culture of the Val di Noto and the Iblei Mountains.
The villa’s interiors open out on both sides, with large glass doors creating a space filled with natural light, and where the outdoors becomes the indoors, and the land is an integral part of the house itself.
The main living space is shared with a dining area and a fully equipped kitchen, all with direct flow to the outdoor terraces.
The central corridor leads to the four en suite bedrooms, each with its own ‘floating’ bed. The villa sleeps up to ten guests, making it a great getaway for a family or group of friends.
Designed by the owners, the unique handcrafted ceramic tiles that adorn the walls throughout the villa mimic the colors of the island, as if they were plucked from the land and sea.
The large outdoor spaces invite you to spend relaxing days by the swimming pool or in the dining area underneath a large pergola overlooking the scenic countryside.
From its dominant vantage point, the villa offers panoramic views among an expansive, arid tract of land which has been kept wild and natural and extends out to the sea.
VAL DI NOTO
Immersed next to the protected and stunningly beautiful Vendicari Nature Reserve and near to some of the best beaches on the island, you’ll have the best of both worlds. The reserve is located halfway between Noto and Pachino extending into almost four thousand acres of forests and undisturbed marine and bird eco-systems that open to a clear sea and long, golden beaches including: Tonnara, Eloro, Pizzuta, Calamosche and Marianelli (they are all easily accessible within a short drive or walk from the house).
The pretty seaside fishing village of Marzamemi is ten minutes drive and is well known for its seafood and the central Tonnara square, full of traditional restaurants and bars as well as its film festival in July.
Nearby Noto is a historic UNESCO World Heritage site with some of the most spectacular and elegant Baroque sites in the world and is one of the gems in the greater Val di Noto region along with its sister cities of Modica, Ragusa, and Scicli, all reachable within a short drive. Make a day of it.
The port town of Siracusa is a significant archaeological area with an ancient Greek amphitheater, the Orecchio di Dionisio Cave, Apollo’s Temple, and the Teatro Romana ruins. Be sure not to miss the Ortigia neighborhood.
The Marina di Modica, Marina di Ragusa and the Andrea Doria promenade, feature some of the areas most popular beaches on the island including Sampieri, Pozzallo and Donnalucata.
