The Alameda, is a crisp and contemporary apartment in the heart of Lisbon, Portugal where vintage pieces and artwork from local illustrators made the architect’s vision come to life.
We wanted to take a closer look at this urban mural painting done by local artist Mario Belem, so we asked the owner the story behind it…
“From the start the Art theme has always been present in our apartments. When we were about to launch our Lisbon location we invited a young architect to curate our walls. One of the artists that was presented to us was Mario. He proposed to do this mural and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the result.”
The mural depicts a little story about the idea of not giving up and the idea of hope. It plays with words and a local saying -“The time to hang up your boots hasn’t come yet.” It was, and in a certain way still is, very connected with the overall attitude regarding the political and economical crisis that hit Portugal in 2011.
We are feeling inspired by the story that comes alive on the walls of the apartment and the beautiful reminder that hope is not a dream but a way of making dreams become a reality.
