If you’re looking for luxurious holiday lettings in the UK, this would be hard to beat. A striking contemporary home, it’s eco-friendly and luxurious, with a drop-dead view thrown in.   Recently completed, the house was designed by Architecture-M in Manchester, and attention was given to making it as environmentally friendly as possible – with solar panels, an air source heat pump, under-floor heating, rainwater harvesting and heat recovery ventilation. Yet, luxury hasn’t been sacrificed, and neither has design. The view of the Welsh mountains through the wall of glass in the living room is breathtaking. The window opens into a series of terraces that drop down into the valley below.   The living area combines dining room and kitchen areas. Both bedrooms have luxurious, handmade, super-king-sized Harrison beds and mattresses, with linens, soft feather pillows and duvets. The rooms also have glass doors opening onto a terrace, with panoramic views of the Berwyn mountain range. Each en-suite bathroom uses the soft filtered rainwater collected on the roof, and is stocked with fluffy towels and robes, as well as organic skin care products by Herbfarmacy.   The garden has a barbecue and dining table. It’s a great spot for star gazing all year round, as the country location means almost no light pollution.   ADDITIONAL FEATURES   The kitchen has a dishwasher, fridge/freezer with icemaker, a LaCanche gas-topped range, as well as a washing machine. There is a large-screen HD TV with Sky, a CD/DVD player, a Bose iPod dock and wave radio. There is outside parking. Guests receive a bottle of bubbly on arrival.   AROUND   Situated near the market town of Oswestry in Shropshire, the house is within a good distance of both Liverpool and Manchester (approximately 1.30hrs), as well as Shrewsbury and Chester (45 minutes).   This a great location for walking in the mountains of North Wales, and a visit to the Lake Vernwy reservoir and estate is recommended for walking, cycling and boating. The lovely town of Llangollen, home to the International Eisteddfod, is only half an hour away by car.   The owners also recommend driving through Snowdonia National Park to Barmouth Bay for fish and chips at The Anchor. If you don’t fancy venturing that far from home, there are also some great local restaurants, and Treflach Farm is great for local produce. StoneHouse Brewery, which makes award-wnning beers, is open for tours and tastings.   LOCATION   Oswestry, Shropshire, England, UK. Nearest airports: Liverpool (34 miles), Ringway (47 miles).   BEST TIME TO VISIT   July and August for sunny days and barbecues; the rest of the year for cosy nights.    For further UK holiday lettings, and other architect-designed homes in the UK and around the world, click here.
