This large apartment in the center of Copenhagen was brought to life by Jacob and Daniel Guldager of Bouli, whose prior businesses have included bicycles and real estate. For this venture, they were looking to create a unique new way for people to travel – making guests feel at home, using local designers to decorate the way they would their own homes, and not charging the earth. They call it ’boutique living’, and we love what they’ve come up with.
This is a property built for elegant leisure. A historic townhouse within walking distance of all the city’s main sights, it’s split over two floors. In addition to its four bedrooms and huge living room, it has its own cinema room with a 55″ flatscreen, surround sound, free popcorn, a Netflix account and decadent lounge seats for up to 10. Really cool.
It’s a beautifully designed property, with old wooden floors, great tiling, bold stripes and stone walls. There are three bedrooms on the ground floor. The master has a king-sized bed with a sofa in the corner which folds out to a twin bed if needed. The two other rooms have queens. The house’s only bathroom is on this level, and has a shower but no tub.
The chill-out zone is downstairs – with a large playroom (two single beds and a sofabed), turntable and a table football game. And, of course, the cinema room.
Its owners say this vacation home rental in Copenhagen is a little like a 5-star hotel – without the hotel part. And we’re inclined to believe them.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES
Towels, sheets and linen, as well as soaps and shampoo, are provided. There is a laundry room with two washing machines and a dryer. The kitchen is attached to the living room, and has a Nespresso machine. There is a flat-screen TV with Apple TV and Netflix.
AROUND
According to Lonely Planet, “Copenhagen is the coolest kid on the Nordic block. Edgier than Stockholm and worldlier than Oslo, the Danish capital gives Scandinavia the X factor. Just ask style bibles Monocle and Wallpaper magazines, which fawn over its industrial-chic bar, design and fashion scenes, and culinary revolution.”
The apartment is located very close to the harbor and within walking distance of many of the city’s attractions. The city has cobbled, bike-friendly streets, brightly-colored townhouses, 15 Michelin-starred restaurants, world-class museums (including the Design Museum, which is just around the corner), craft studios and candlelit cafes. A must-see destination for design-lovers.
