This small apartment sits on the riverside in the town of Senhals, Germany – part of a complex of little houses and apartments under the same ownership. The whole property sleeps up to 22 guests, and this – the smallest residence – sleeps two.

It’s a charming setting, surrounded in parkland and located on the banks of the Moselle River. The apartment may be small, but guests have full use of the grounds, with lounge furniture and deck chairs – as well as the complex’s Jacuzzi.

The apartment is on the ground floor, opening directly onto a central courtyard. It’s also barrier-free, making it a great option for those requiring wheelchair access. It’s a simple, almost unassuming space with large windows – except for the bombastic blast of red that makes up the kitchen space. A vision in retro-futuristic cool, it sits sleek and gleaming to one side of the living area. Very unexpected and fun.

A great vacation home rental in Germany for a couple.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

The kitchen is fully equipped, with dishwasher and washing machine. The apartment also has a TV, radio, CD player, safe and wifi. There is a small veranda.

The Jacuzzi in the complex can be reserved (€10 per person per day, incl. pool towels and bath robes). There are also facilities for meetings, family celebrations, and other events within the grounds.

AROUND

The surrounding park has two lawns, a barbecue area, orange trees, an olive grove, a vineyard, a little fountain and sand area, as well as lounge chairs, and direct access to the waterfront via a private bathing jetty.

The municipality of Senheim lies on both banks of the river Moselle. The bigger of the two sides, also called Senheim, lies on the right bank, while the smaller Senhals lies on the left bank. They are linked by bridge. As far back as the Middle Ages, the locals made their living in agriculture, specifically growing wine, and there’s still a great deal of wine being produced to this day.

Sights to see in Senhals include St Mary Magdalene’s Catholic Church (thought to date back to the 13th century) and some beautiful old timber-frame buildings. The larger Senheim boasts the impressive St Remigius’s Catholic Church and number of historical buildings.

There are numerous great hiking trails, and a boat trip on the Moselle is recommended. Don’t forget to visit at least one castle – as there are many (Burgen, Burg Eltz, Beilstein, Cochem, Thurant). And the region hosts several great wine festivals.
