This unique holiday apartment in Gelting dates back to 1899, when it was a milk processing plant. The building was renovated in 2015, creating two separate apartments with a raw, industrial feel. The large rooms with high ceilings still testify to the building’s original use.
The main color is, appropriately enough, white, with elements of grey and black in the walls and simple furnishings. Floors are an eclectic mix of dark wood and painted floorboards, tiles and polished concrete. Walls are whitewashed, bare concrete, and occasionally unfinished. Flowing curtains add a gentleness.
In contrast to the strong industrial edges, the apartment also has a large, pretty roof terrace with views of the surrounding countryside, and access to a spa area, which has a sauna, spring water plunge pool and relaxation room. There is underfloor heating in the bathroom, and a cosy fireplace.

The village of Gelting is located in the northeast of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, approximately 1.5km from the Baltic Sea. It’s near the nature reserve Geltinger Birk, between Flensburg fjord, the Baltic Sea and the Ostseefjord Schlei. The village is small with a gas station, supermarket and bakery.
The flat sandy beaches are ideal for families with children, and there are opportunities for surfing and sailing in Geltinger Bay. Other recommended activities including walking, Nordic walking and running along the coast and through the woods.
