Saronic Gulf Villa, Aegina, Greece

This newly-built property was created with a minimalist approach to design, and has a luminous, almost space-age feel. It was designed with Antoine de Saint-Exupery’s idea in mind: “Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away”.

It’s a bright, beautiful, open space that blends inside with out, whether it’s in the living areas or the bedrooms. The use of glass throughout (even in the bathroom walls) gives a wonderful sense of transparency. Vast windows bring the views of the Saronic Gulf into the house, and an infinity edge pools extends the living room out into the horizon. There are views of the coastline and ocean from every point inside.

The lower level is wide open, with an invisible frame system removing the need for enclosures. A suspended staircase leads guests to the upper floor, and the glass ceiling along it expands upwards into the sky.  Furnishings are minimalist and modern, with a focus on relaxation and comfort.

The house is split over two levels. The ground floor is made up of a living room, dining room, kitchen, guest WC, one bedroom with en-suite, and a utility room. The upper floor has two bedrooms with en-suites, and a terrace. The generously-sized outdoor space is made up of a large infinity pool, with verandas, a barbecue, dining area and outdoor shower. A luxury villa in Greece that’s perfect for an indulgent escape.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

The kitchen is fully equipped, with a coffee machine, electric kettle, dishwasher, and washing machine. Towels and linens are provided. There is a flat-screen TV, heating and air conditioning. Daily maid service is included. No smoking throughout the house. Indoor parking is available.

AROUND

The island of Aegina is only a short boat ride from the Greek mainland, and within easy reach of the other Saronic islands (Agistri, Poros and Hydra) as well as the Peloponnese. A little less touristy than some other Greek islands, Aegina is a great place to experience local food and drink, and perfect for exploring on foot – from pistachio orchards to the top of Mount Oros.

The house is 10 minutes from the town of Aegina, 12 minutes from the Port of Aegina, 2 minutes from the beach, and 7 minutes from the village of Perdika. Other points of interest nearby include the Archaeological Museum of Aigina (3 miles), Agios Nektarios Cathedral (3.5 miles), Agia Marina Beach (4.5 miles), the Temple of Aphaia (4.7 miles) and Methana Port (9.2 miles).
