Tucked away within the jungle along a sacred river, this cottage to rent in Bali is an off grid, all natural experience where adventure and tranquility meet. Built entirely by hand by the owners and local craftsmen, the house is nestled along the banks of the river surrounded by wildlife. A pristine and natural swimming spot, the river interescts directly adjacent to the house in a “Campuhan,” and is regarded as a holy site. Used by locals for ceremonial bathing and traditional rituals, it’s a magical location.

Designed in the thatched roof A-frame style, the house is constructed entirely of locally sourced bamboo and is partially unplugged, integrating sustainable and eco-friendly living solutions including a hydo-energy water wheel. On the ground floor is the open air living area with a fully equipped kitchen overlooking the river where you can dine on fresh local food, chill in the hammock and enjoy the gorgeous scenery and good vibes.

On the second floor is a spacious bedroom for two with an extra full sized bed to  accommodate up to four. There’s an ideal lounge space in front of the uniquely designed triangular windows with direct views of the river and gardens where you’ll spy the resident cows and ducks roaming about and the sparkling fireflies at night.
