Set among a quarter of a million acres of protected nature reserve just outside of Madrid, this magnificent estate is surrounded on all sides by oak groves, pasture and unspoiled countryside with stunning panoramic views as far as the eye can see. Originally constructed in 1904 on a granite and mud brick base, the traditional farmhouse or finca, stands alone on a hill where you can just make out Madrid´s four towers in the distance.
Owned by a Spanish couple, the house has been lovingly restored with great sensitivity and passion and populated with treasures from their world travels including 17th century French antiques and one-of-a-kind pieces from Bali.
Consisting of two separate buildings, the structures were joined together and given a subtle but thorough update and painted a striking wine red that pops against the landscape.
The main house includes a large living room with vaulted wood ceilings and a replica of an ancient 18th century French fireplace built from 15th century beams taken from a convent in Toledo. The adjacent library, office and music room feature paneled doors from 15th century La Mancha and house volumes of classic French and Spanish literature, history, botany and travel books as well as rare maps and cartographies.
The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped with a chef and staff that serve breakfast daily in the glassed dining room with optional catering services available.
The grand master suite is designed in a pitched Balinese pagoda style with bright airy spaces and a unique open bath with Turkish sauna.
There is a second en-suite double bedroom and a third bedroom designed for children with a trundle bed.
The couple took great care in expanding the grounds with a pool and lounge pavilion, while adding a greenhouse and vegetable garden, and acres of vineyards and olive trees.
Designed as a special refuge for themselves, this estate was created by the owners to be shared with a privileged few and is an intimate and luxurious retreat in nature.

AROUND
Just forty minutes from central Madrid, the area immediately surrounding the city is a stunningly beautiful region of oak forests, the Alberche, Cofio and Guadarrama river basins and rolling countryside at the base of the Sierra Oeste. A lesser traveled area, it has been given the highest grade of environmental protection for both the land and wildlife. Perfect for hiking, biking and exploring nature, you can find the nearby Hoyones stream from the villa that feeds a reservoir dating from Roman times, where you can still find the remains of the medieval dam and the ruins of the mill that milled all of the grains for the area. The countryside is populated with just a few large estates and is a quiet and peaceful rural hideaway.
