Sitting on an acre and a half of beautiful country pasture just outside of the tiny hamlet of Round Top, this vacation home rental in Texas is the culmination of years of careful restoration and a passionate commitment to telling a story through design.
Created by a husband and wife team, the project grew organically and completely by chance, when during a road trip, they discovered the historic farmhouse for sale in the town that is home to one of the most renowned antique fairs in the country. Keeping the classic silhouette intact, a complete top to bottom renovation followed, pairing clean, modern lines with sustainably resourced materials and vintage finishes and fixtures sourced from around the country and the world.
Consisting of two cottages attached by a mudroom, each can be booked separately or combined for exclusive use of the property. No. 1450 is bright and open with airy interiors, concrete and wood floors and antique clapboard construction. The living room is anchored by a large fireplace with a well equipped kitchen and breakfast bar and a sun porch dining area. The en suite master on the ground floor sleeps two and features a large barn door for privacy and there’s an additional double loft bedroom upstairs.
The wraparound porch overlooks the pastoral landscape and is the perfect spot for dining al fresco.
Taking their love of vintage design one step further, the couple developed an antique and decor business and on-line shop with bespoke items, artisan-made home goods and handpicked antiques available for purchase.
Featured in numerous design publications as well as coffee table books, their relaxed and effortless style transports you through thoughtful design to another time and place.
