Highlighting the stunning beauty of the nature that surrounds it, this small luxury hotel in India is placed to take advantage of panoramic views of the Nanda Devi Range and the distant Himalayas.

Designed by Sri Lankan firm Zowa Architects, the hotel pays homage to local culture and craftsmanship and was constructed using all locally sourced, natural materials.

Comprised of a cluster of individual chalets, the structures are scattered across the site on staggered terraces. The main building sits at the highest point of the site, with a dramatic cantilevered dining room, a spacious lounge, library, and an outdoor dining terrace. The bold Brutalist concrete forms are clad in bamboo to dissolve the visual impact that the buildings can have in a sensitive environment.

Local artisans and craftsmen were enlisted to create everything from the furniture and accessories to the textiles, drawing on nearby Almora’s traditional weavers.

The hotel is in the process of becoming eco-friendly with all of the structures designed with rain water catchment to be used throughout the property and to replant seasonal crops to be used in its kitchen and on the restaurant’s menu.

Blending into its surroundings, this unique hotel immerses you into the stunning scenery with captivating natural design.
