Built using traditional building methods of the region, the house feels contemporary with the atmosphere and style of a simple country dwelling.
Stylish and traditional, the subtle Moorish features of white washed adobe and slate tile are nicely paired with an interesting selection of handpicked antiques and local decor in a neutral earthy palette.
The warm and inviting open plan living room features a central fireplace and dining area adjacent to the kitchen with French doors that open out to the terrace and BBQ area. Spacious and family friendly, the home features four bedrooms (three are doubles and one twin) that sleeps eight.
The pool was designed by a local pool architect and is raised to give the best views of the surrounding mountains and is filled with water from the mountain snow in the spring. The garden is a rustic half acre of olive groves, fig, walnut, orange and pomegranate trees and irrigated via an ancient system first built by the Moors that settled in the area with multiple outdoor living spaces built for entertaining.

La Alpujarra in Andalucia is a mountainous region near Granada stretching south from the Sierra Nevada mountains in southern Spain. The Western part of the region lies in the province of Granada and the eastern part is in the province of Almeria. The warm southerly climate combined with runoff from the Sierra Nevada, make the valleys of Alpujarras among the most fertile in the country.
A rural community that thrives much as it has for centuries, the area is home to verdant farms, sleepy villages and a local goat herd that passes in front of the house every day on the way to the river for water.
Famed for its flat roofed white washed Arabic villages that cluster into the mountain ranges, the picturesque villages of Bubion and Capiliera can be seen nestled into the slopes from the patio.
There are beautiful walks all around, with the ancient olive-tree route passing close to the house, with plenty of local activities to enjoy including horse-back riding, mountain biking, yoga, spa therapies (in nearby Lanjarron), or just lazy days by the pool. There’s a selection of good restaurants, cafes, tapas bars and local shops in the nearby village of Orgiva as well as a weekly market and the frequent fiesta celebrations at various times throughout the year. The almond blossom in February is breath-taking, as is the olive harvesting in December and January. A visit to the Alhambra can be easily done in a day.
