CasaCau Livia Apartment, Rome, Italy

This apartment is located minutes from all the attractions of central Rome, in a converted 17th-century mansion overlooking a market square. We love the elegant ambience of its cool greys and warm teals, combined with beautiful tiled floors and vintage furnishings.

Of particular appeal is the large padded painting that acts as headboard on the bed. It reproduces a Roman fresco found in the Room of Livia, now exhibited at the Palazzo Massimo – a lovely touch of ancient and modern rolled into one. We also love the old typewriter, evocative of Italian designer Adriano Olivetti, which the owners have left for guests to use.

The owners designed the space to feel like a friend’s home, and offer insider tips on where to explore and where to hang in this ancient city. They drop off freshly-baked goods each morning, and fridges are stocked with water, milk and juices.

A large bathroom features a Turkish steam bath, and there is an open-plan kitchen with a spacious dining room and relaxation area.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

The building has six separate apartments of different size, but can be rented in its entirety. This apartment can also be rented with the adjoining apartment to create a larger space. AROUND

This property is located in central Rome, which really needs no description. Suffice it to say, the Trevi fountain is a three-minute walk away. The Spanish Steps are five minutes. Via Condotti (Rome’s Rodeo Drive/Bond Street) is ten minutes away.

The owners want every guest to leave with a piece of where they’ve stayed, and make every effort to help them discover hidden nooks and crannies. Guests get to know the most intimate corners of the city, as well as, they say, ‘radical local traditions and unlikely places’. Sounds irresistible.
