CasaCau Grand Apartment, Rome, Italy

This apartment in the center of Rome retains much of the charm of the 17th-century building it inhabits. The old cement tiles and large mantelpiece in the bedroom remain, but have been combined with industrial-style furnishings and Fifties décor elements to create an atmosphere that is at once elegant and irreverent.

The owners of the property wanted to design a space where guests can feel at home, and it’s certainly fun. They insist that all visitors should get to know the real Rome and offer insider’s tips on what to do and where to go in the big city. They also stock the fridge with water, milk and juice, so that guests don’t have to worry about running out, and deliver baked goods each morning.

The apartment sleeps three adults (or two adults and two small children), in a double bedroom and on a sofabed in the spacious living room. Quirky features include the bathroom decorated in a multitude of vintage wicker mirrors, and an interior-facing terrace reached through a unusual walk-in closet in the bedroom.

One of the real perks is its central location, within easy reach of sights like the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps, as well as great shopping and nightlife. And when guests are ready to get away from all that, it’s also a wonderful place to unwind.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

The building has six separate apartments of different size, but can be rented in its entirety. To view the other apartments in the building, visit: Master ApartmentLivia ApartmentBalcony ApartmentCorner Apartment, and Studio Apartment.

AROUND

This property is located in central Rome, which really needs no description. Suffice it to say, the Trevi fountain is a three-minute walk away. The Spanish Steps are five minutes. Via Condotti (Rome’s Rodeo Drive/Bond Street) is ten minutes away.

The owners want every guest to leave with a piece of where they’ve stayed, and make every effort to help them discover hidden nooks and crannies. Guests get to know the most intimate corners of the city, as well as, they say, ‘radical local traditions and unlikely places’. Sounds irresistible.
