Designed by the renowned NU-architects firm, this rural farm property once consisted of just a 19th century farmhouse surrounded by over eleven acres of centuries old olive groves. Following a thorough renovation, the structure has been transformed and expanded into three strikingly modern interconnected silhouettes utilizing concrete, stainless steel and rustic salvaged remnants from the original structures. Surrounding an impressive walled courtyard paved with ancient stone slabs, the ingenious lay-out allows for families or groups to enjoy independence and privacy as well as holiday time together.
The restructured 19th century farmhouse features beautiful vaulted ceilings and sleeps four while the former stable now sleeps two, each with private terraces among the olive trees, outside the courtyard. The main building has a splendid living space, a dining area and large terraces both at ground level and high among the treetops. The second floor houses the ensuite master with an additional ensuite double bedroom downstairs. A system of very large sliding glass walls blurs the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces and the interiors are elegantly and simply furnished with a mix of modern, vintage and charming rustic elements, beautifully calibrated and balanced between old and new. Passively designed to reduce its ecological footprint, the house remains cool in summer and warm in winter utilizing solar energy and rainwater catchment.
Outside the interior of the courtyard is dominated by an enormous mulberry tree and the twenty one meter pool that runs through the main house to the shade of the olive trees. There’s an extra outdoor kitchen designed for entertaining alfresco and tranquil lounge areas for listening to the silence.
Discovered and restored by a local family, the owners settled nearby following a life of work and travel to try their hand at organic olive oil production and have now successfully bottled the delicious elixir from their trees.
Come stay where luxury, architecture and nature meet.
