AROUND
Located nearby to Santanyi and Cala D’or, on the south eastern coast where you’ll find some of the finest beaches.
Cala S’Almunia is small but one of the closest. Cala Llombards is very popular and there’s a marvelous “chiringuito” (beach bar) with fresh fish and drinks.
There are plenty of beautiful white sand beaches with turquoise waters nearby including S’Amarador, Cala Mondragó, caló d’es Moro, platja dels Estanys with some of the best just five minutes drive.
Es Cargol o Sa Punta Nera together with (the best) Es Carbó are the beaches of Sa Vall, a beautiful private estate. You can only get there by foot from the lighthouse of Ses Salines. It takes about a half hour on foot but well worth it!
Es Trenc Beach is amazingly beautiful and one of the more famous stretches of coastline if a little hard to locate.
Don’t miss the amazing outdoor markets where you’ll find the best of local produce, crafts and food stalls.
The small market in the central square is Es Lombards is open every Saturday morning, while the Market in nearby Santiyi on Wednesdays and Saturdays and is surrounded with great local cafes. The Palma Pelaires cultural center and gallery in Santanyi showcases amazing local and international art as well as concerts and performances.
Palma is less than an hour north and these days has become more like a mini Barcelona, with stylish bars, cafes, restaurants and shopping and the stunning Cathedral of Palma La Seu at its heart.
The famous Santa Catalina food market on Saturday afternoons with its “Tardeo” time that turns the streets into a big meeting point of people, food and fun.
