This 18th-century vacation home rental in Sicily is a perfect escape within the center of Noto. Tucked away in a quiet cul-de-sac, it is within easy reach of all the city’s main attractions, making it the best possible combination of public and private.
The house is split over three floors, with a courtyard-garden on the first floor, and a large living room and terrace on the third, offering views over the center of Noto, its cathedral and theater. We love the light, spacious interiors, which are inspired by local tradition and retain all the warmth of the original stonework. The simple and elegant design is also partially influenced by the owners’ travels in east and south-east Asia.
Its three bedrooms are located on the first and second floors. There’s a double room with two single beds on the lower level, with a sofa-bed in its living area. The second floor has two double bedrooms, one with an en-suite bathroom. Rather unusually, the main living area (with kitchen) is on the top floor, and the terrace area has a tent and cushions for al fresco dining.

The house has an iPod/CD/Mp3 player, but no television. Wifi is only available on the third floor. It has air conditioning and heating, a dishwasher and two washing machines. There is free parking on the street leading to the house.
AROUND
The house is located within walking distance of Noto’s famous cathedral, the ancient marketplace, the theater, and the city’s best restaurants and cafes. However, it is also very peaceful, due to its location at the very end of a quiet cul-de-sac.
Noto is well-situated, close to all that eastern Sicily has to offer, and is a stone’s throw away from great beaches, natural reserves, and UNESCO World Heritage sites. In fact, it is one itself, part of a cluster of Late Baroque towns of the Val di Noto. Renowned Baroque cities such as Siracusa/Oritigia, Scicli, Ragusa Ibla and Modica are all 30-45 minutes away. The natural reserve of Vendicari’s Oasis and its unspoiled shores are within 10 minutes’ drive.
