Surrounded by lush green meadowlands, woodlands and orchards, this charming Victorian farmhouse is located in the Delaware County region of the Catskills just over two hours north of Manhattan. Built in 1890, the clapboard and gabled construction is a romantic reminder of early American homesteads. With ornate balustrades and a rocking chair porch, the two story home is a classic example of the area’s rural architectural past.
Discovered in a dilapidated state by a New York city family who permanently escaped the city for the country life, the house required over six years of renovations but retains the best of it’s original period features and detail. Airy and sunny, the ground floor includes a warm and relaxing fireside living space and a highly functional country kitchen plus one bedroom and a full bath, while upstairs are two additional bright and spacious bedrooms flooded with natural light from the tall windows. The two custom designed bathrooms include one with an awesomely inviting Victoria & Albert tub.
A mix of country vintage and modern furnishings and decor along with swaths of cheerful color and personal touches will make you feel right at home.
The porch is perfectly designed for lazy afternoons and overlooks the many fruit trees and woods where you can wander down the trail right off of the house to explore.
