A mid-century compound on over two acres of Mojave desert, this vacation home for rent in Yucca Valley sits 3,500 feet above sea level and is surrounded by vast swaths of desert oak, piñon and juniper at the north flank of the Little San Bernardino Mountains. Offering stunning, unobstructed views of San Gorgonio Mountain and the southern periphery of the Sawtooth Wilderness, the property is cradled on three sides by some of the most marvelous and wild high desert terrain in California including nearby Joshua Tree National Park.
Comprised of three separate structures, the original portion of the house is constructed of brick with open beam sloped ceilings in classic mid-century “high desert ranch” style. The main house interiors are bright and cheerful with colorful southwestern and vintage modern pieces living side by side and includes a living room with fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen and dining room as well as a separate sunroom and office space. There is one en suite master bedroom and two additional bedrooms that share a bath.
The former horse stables have been converted into a charming pool house that includes three bedrooms (one en suite) and one bathroom for a total occupancy of fourteen guests. The large open plan yoga studio can accommodate approximately ten yoga enthusiasts and can also be reconfigured as a meeting or event venue and overlooks the fenced pool. There’s plenty of exterior space to stretch out including around the fire pit under starry desert nights.
