Front Break, Portland, Oregon

The steps of this converted 1920s bungalow proclaim, “Wherever you go becomes a part of you somehow.” Which is a great way to be welcomed to Portland. The house in the north of the city may be nearly a century old, but it’s been given a bright, airy makeover, with a modern, country feel, and has been renovated with vacation rental (and therefore relaxation) in mind.

The house sleeps nine guests in four bathrooms, making it a great destination for two families or a large group wanting to explore Portland, and the city’s cool Mississippi District. A neighborhood full of independent restaurants and boutiques, it’s full of life but retains much of its historical charm. And the house has the same energy, with its nods to an older world – rocking chairs on the porch, a mix of old and new furnishings, and little artistic details.

The ground floor has a living area, with kitchen and dining table, two bedrooms (1 queen and 1 bunk) and a bathroom. Downstairs are two further bedrooms and a cosy entertainment area, with one additional bathroom.

Plus, if accommodation for nine isn’t enough, there’s another house on the same lot that sleeps a further 11 guests – making it a great location for family reunions, wedding parties and events. A fun vacation home for rent in Portland.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

The kitchen has everything, including a dishwasher, coffee grinder and blender. There’s also a separate laundry room, and two rooms with cable TV. There’s one parking space on lot (and free street parking), as well as a locked bike storage shed. There’s a high-efficiency heat pump with heat and A/C controls in each room. A pack ‘n’ play, stroller and high chair are available.

AROUND

The N Mississippi District, with its colorful historic buildings, has become one of the hippest places in Portland to shop, dine and drink. The house is only minutes away from Mississippi Avenue, which is lined with chic restaurants, live music venues, and assorted bars, boutiques and brewpubs.
