Set on over six acres of lush parks and woodlands overlooking the medieval town and castle of Chinon in the Loire Valley, this 19th century chateau with its fairytale architecture is a magical place. One of the many elegant chateaux that dot the region, the distinctive turreted French Renaissance style has been carefully restored and recreated with discreet modern comforts and a family friendly focus.
The formal entrance opens into the reception hall with a grand sweeping staircase that leads to the upper floors and two reception rooms. Double doors on either side access the main salon with its comfy lounge areas and lovely country views as well as the salle à manger – a stylish and contemporary formal dining room.
At the heart of the chateau is the large traditional kitchen with its open fire ideal for entertaining or intimate meals with family and optional private chef services. With six bedrooms laid out over two floors, the house can accommodate up to twelve people in four double and two twin rooms. A playroom occupies the first floor in the family wing, providing a sanctuary for children in the morning or for a quiet escape.
The salon and kitchen open onto a sunny courtyard where you’ll want to spend summer evenings dining alfresco and relaxing with a glass of the local vin rose. There are plenty of lounge spaces poolside which are fully enclosed and include covered areas away from the sun. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, there are play areas for both kids and adults with a swing set and slide, boules, cricket and croquet.

AROUND
Located in the heart of the Loire Valley along the banks of the Vienne river, the medieval town of Chinon has a storied past that spans centuries with Joan of Arc, Richard the Lionheart and Jean Cocteau all figuring into its history. Dominated by the 12th-century castle perched above the river, the village is a tightly knit maze of winding cobbled stone streets lined with shops, cafes and 15th century timber houses with the picturesque Rue Haute St-Maurice in particular lending it a fairy tail feel. The western most region of Indre-et-Loire is also one of the better wine growing domains and is famous for it’s distinctive chateaux and scenic towns of Tours, Le Grand Pressigny, Loches, Richelieu and Vouvray.
