The architecture of this house near Comporta in Portugal was inspired by the nature around it, with its primary element being wood. A property that’s great for couples as well as families, the house is not only secluded but it’s also conveniently located close to the town and nearby beaches.
Part of a complex of three houses, it can be rented alone or alongside the other two. This, the main house, has its own garden area, with a shaded terrace which looks out over the nearby countryside, an outdoor shower, and a large firepit surrounded in benches.
Interiors are contemporary with unique handcrafted wooden furnishings, and the abundant books, CDs and magazines give it a great lived-in feel. The living room has a striking freestanding fireplace, and we love the eclectic modern art and features like the unexpectedly asymmetrical headboards on the twin beds.
