This past month, we had the pleasure of collaborating with El Camino Travel as they took twelve influencers on a trip to Medellin, Colombia, to explore relationships, connections, and get to know the vibrant city from the inside out. Giving a local perspective to travelers is one of El Camino’s ethos, as their curated trips often involve authentic experiences surrounding local culture and traditions. With that, we thought it would be perfectly well suited to host the group at one of our Boutique Homes in Guatape, just an hour outside of the city of Medellin.
Medellin is known as the Silicon Valley of Latin America and is admired for its ability to continuously churn out great ideas and companies. It is a city that has witnessed grand transformation in the past decades due to the resilience of its population and innovative mentality to create change through investments into the social fabric of the city. Sounds like a perfect destination for a group of forward-thinking creatives.
During this trip, El Camino Travel introduced the group to some of the top movers and shakers of Medellin from all fields and who have been critical to its success, including our gracious host Santiago Sosa, a Medellin native and owner of the Guatape Lake House. Reachable by boat, helicopter, or off-road vans, the beautiful lake house boasts stunning views of the lake, mountains and is surrounded by water. Guatape’s landmark “La Piedra,” a 1,263 ft tall monolith can be seen without obstructions from the home.
On day four of El Camino’s trip, we invited the group to jump away from the urban city to the rural outskirts of Guatepe to be inspired by the dramatic landscape and the colors of the actual town. The house played host to a delicious and massive Colombian-style BBQ.
