This pretty farmhouse is an effortless blend of 19th-century heritage and its owners’ sense of contemporary style. From the outside, it’s a traditional shuttered cottage, surrounded by a country garden. Inside, however, it has a cool, elegant feel.
We love the use of traditional materials like limestone, slate and timber, juxtaposed with vintage, rustic and modern furniture. As with so many homes, it’s the details that make it – the sleek, contemporary kitchen, the striking glitter ball light fittings, the large mirrored clock, the combination of vintage wooden dining table with modern perspex chairs.
The house has two living rooms, and the main one has a cosy feel with armchairs, built-in banquettes and an open fireplace. It also has four bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms. One of the loveliest features of the home is the garden, with its private terrace, outdoor dining area, barbecue/plancha, and lovely private heated pool that is available for use in the summer months (from May to October, depending on weather conditions).
This is a beautiful vacation home for rent in France, perfect for up to eight guests, and great for the ski season.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES
There is a fully-equipped kitchen with dishwasher, freezer, fridge, microwave, oven, induction cooker and laundry area (washing machine and dryer). Wifi is provided, and there are TVs, as well as music docks, a DVD player, a library of books, games and music, and a ping pong table. A welcome pack of nibbles is provided to keep guests going during their stay. In winter there is a special area for warming ski boots and storing skis.
AROUND
The house is located in Cazeaux-de-Larboust, a small village 8km from Bagnères de Luchon, on the way to the Col de Peyresourde. The region is known for its year-round mountain activities.
There are two ski resorts nearby, which are perfect for a day of skiing: Luchon-Superbagnères (with 32km of slopes, just 8km away) and Peyragudes (with 60km of slopes, just 6km away). Slightly farther afield in Spain is the resort of Baqueira-Beret in the Pyrénées Catalanes, with its 120km of slopes. There are also plenty of tracks for cross-country enthusiasts.
Summer activities include cycling, hiking, rafting, kayaking, climbing, canyoneering, swimming, playing tennis and golfing. The house is also located within easy reach of Toulouse, Tarbes, St Gaudens, Bagnères de Luchon and Vielha-Val D’Aran.
