Built in a fusion of Mayan and Moroccan inspired style, the four story house is a pristine and dreamy space with cool whitewashed walls and a rustic-luxe design aesthetic. Guests have access to the second level loft space and living area with a shady palm fringed balcony for reading and siestas as well as a cozy double bedroom adjacent to a well equipped kitchen and bathroom. AROUND
Located off the coast of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula and separated from the mainland by the Yalahau Lagoon, Holbox Island is part of the Yum Balam Nature Reserve between the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico. Rich in biodiversity and marine life, you can spot sea turtles and whale sharks in the waters off the coast and flamingos and sea birds strolling the shores. The tiny main village on the north west side of the island is a laid back mosaic of shoreline cantinas and thatched whitewashed bungalows, vendors and shops and the main town square where the colorful remnants of the annual arts festival has left the town’s walls covered in art, murals and graffiti. Much of the rest of the island is largely uninhabited and covered in mangroves and sandy coves for exploring like nearby Playa Punta Coco.
