Situated on top of a mountain in Kokkina at the southern tip of Syros, this luxury villa in Greece is surrounded by olive trees and rugged island terrain with stunning views over the Aegean Sea and the islands of Naxos, Paros, Serifos and Antiparos. Designed by Athens based architecture studio, Block 722, the construction blends traditional, natural materials with a zen modernism that recalls the ancient Cycladic forms and style of antiquity. Equipped with state of the art technology, the gated compound still cleverly adheres to an all natural aesthetic.

A central building houses the living area and kitchen, with an attached en suite master bedroom and two guest rooms. Two additional guest rooms are situated next to the main building with easy access to the common areas and pool while remaining very private. The master bedroom sits next to the pool just steps from the water’s edge with magnificent views across the sea.

Sheltered by dramatic stone walls, the property features private outdoor dining and lounge areas with a fully equipped outdoor kitchen around the pool that appears suspended over the sea, all aligned with the breathtaking views over Plagia Bay.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

Optional tailored culinary experiences and private chef, housekeeping six days per week, sailing trips and sightseeing upon request. Wifi throughout with satellite cable TV, Sonos sound system inside and outside. Outdoor gym and TRX suspension trainers. Security/video entry system, parking for up to six cars. Helicopter transport upon request.

AROUND

The lesser known island of Syros is an undiscovered gem in the Cyclades chain that is typically less crowded than its neighbors. The capital, Ermoupolis is a vibrant, rich amalgamation of ancient and neoclassical architecture and influence with marble palaces interspersed alongside antiquity with it’s medieval counterpart, Ano Syros, sitting directly opposite it creating a dramatic counterpoint in style and design. Once home to some of the wealthiest shipping tycoons who created the now famous Greek shipping industries, they contributed to the island’s rich commercial and architectural identity. From the Scala Opera (that is an exact replica of La Scala in Milan) to the imposing villas overlooking the Aegean, the architecture is a surprising and elegant mix. The island also hosts some of the country’s most famous festivals including the Apokries Carnival, Ano Syros Festival, St. Peter’s Day, Hermoupolia Festival, The Feast of the Municipality of Poseidonia and the Feast of Virgin Mary when the island comes alive with parades, feasting, performers and cultural events. Delphini beach and Grammata beach – which overlooks an entire city that sank into the sea are two of the island’s best.
