In the heart of Warsaw’s historic Praga district, the long-defunct vodka distillery Koneser from the 19th-century has been revived as a lively campus that includes housing, offices, a hotel, and a Vodka museum. A—PLACE sits aptly on the top floor of a building in this ancient distillery.

This one bedroom apartment has been composed with their favorite natural materials. A sense of life imbues its clean lines thanks to living textures like wood, linen, and ceramics. The double bed in the bedroom lies on coconut and tatami mats, which feel great and adds a presence of nature to the space. The bathroom is serenely washed in nude tones, and comes with a deep bathtub to soak off a day of exploration.

The kitchen is a covetable marriage of form and function: It is fully equipped should you like to fix yourself a little something good, and when you’re done, a flip of a lid hides it perfectly in its surroundings.

Like a mini gallery of contemporary design, the apartment is furnished with perfectly considered pieces from designers whose work Thisispaper admire and follow, for instance the beautiful Senator Sofa by Ole Wanscher in the living area, Pico tiles from the Bouroullec brothers in the bathroom, and wall lamps by Louis Poulsen.

Avid readers and magazine-flippers, the founders of Thisispaper has made it a point to leave you their favorite books and magazines for your browsing pleasure. A collection of vinyls await the delight of audiophiles, to be spun on the Braun SK5 record player by Dieter Rams, clearly a preferred object of the studio. Homebodies who have time on their hands are invited to indulge in a little origami or kirigami, to join in the pleasure of creation.

Additional features

Guests will find a serving of organic Japanese tea upon arrival, another passion of Thisispaper who took to the task of importing this little indulgence. Coffee lovers may try a fresh roast from Warsaw. Toiletries are provided. A washing machine and iron are available too. The living room has a floor mattress to accommodate an extra guest.

Around

A–PLACE is located in the heart of the historic Praga district—a forgotten gem on Vistula’s left bank, with rich but well-hidden history 10 minutes from the city center. It shares the area with Ząbkowska and Targowa streets, Park Skaryszewski, Soho Factory, Praga Museum, and the Neon Museum. The nearest subway and tram station – Dworzec Wileński – is 450m from the apartment. It is the fastest and most convenient connection to the city center. The Google Campus, one of the six significant Google locations in the world, is just around the corner, so you are in creative company and the coffee is great. Thisispaper has a full list of attractions for their guests upon arrival.
