Modern Glam, Notting Hill, London, UK

One of the things we love most about London is walking, exploring streets lined with trees and Victorian terraces, checking out cafes and shops. Notting Hill is one of those neighborhoods that’s particularly fun to explore on foot, given its great pubs and restaurants, boutiques and markets – most notably Portobello Road. If you love antiques and vintage, this flat is well located for getting up early and hitting the market before the crowds arrive.

Located on the first floor of a Victorian conversion, it retains much of the charm of the original building like the original wooden floor, tall windows and high ceiling, but it’s been updated with functional conveniences like built-in storage units and a streamlined kitchen. The decor is a blend of British and European modern design, including a Tom Dixon gold pendant light, large Louis Philippe gilt mirror, and a whimsical white pendant monkey light. The blue velvet sofa and grey armchair, book-lined shelves, and cool antiques give the flat a lovely lived-in feel.

The petite bedroom has a full-sized bed with a firm Memory Foam mattress, and large windows with blinds. The simple modern bathroom has a tub with rain showerhead and an unexpected vintage Venetian mirror.

This is a great vacation home rental in London for a single occupant or a couple sharing.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

The kitchen comes fully equipped with refrigerator, dishwasher, induction hob, oven, microwave, washer/dryer, coffee maker, toaster, and kettle. There is a TV. Wifi and a hairdryer.

AROUND

What can we say about Notting Hill that hasn’t been said before? A diverse, friendly community famous for its Carnival which takes over the streets every year in August, it’s chock full of trendy cafes, shops, gastro pubs and restaurants, as well as the legendary Electric Cinema.

The flat is located close to Ladbroke Grove tube on the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines, which makes getting into central London remarkably easy. It’s also well located for Paddington (Heathrow Express) and King’s Cross (Eurostar), if you’re travelling further afield. Other tubes within easy distance are Latimer Road and Notting Hill Gate.

But if you’ve got all day, we highly recommend a wander through Notting Hill down to Kensington Gardens and Palace, through Hyde Park and even Green Park. Once you’ve had your fill of the Royal Parks, you can jump on a bus and be in the West End before you know it.

If you’d like any advice about what to do, the owners (a German-Jamaican-British couple) can recommend everything from where to get a good haircut to where to find the best Acke and Saltfish.
