Just steps from the beach and the spectacular convergence of the Atlantic and the Caraíva River, these villas for rent in Brazil transport you to a place of Bahian tradition, naturally luxurious design and craftsmanship, and the scent of the ocean wafting through its breezy interiors.
A mini-village in and of itself, the property consists of four individual hideaways nestled within a lovely garden setting in the charming, vehicle-free town of Caraiva.
Organized around a central pool, each of the villas feature both the Portuguese inspired colonial character of the region and the laid back island vibe of an enchanting tropical hideaway.
The simple cross beamed and thatched roofs with concrete floors lend an elemental quality that mimics nature, with rustic teak wood throughout, high ceilings, and locally handcrafted decor and furnishings. Bedrooms are tucked above in lofts while the open-air pebble baths are like showering in the rain forest.
There is a large central kitchen and dining area where breakfast is served daily and all of the rooms open to the refreshing pool and relaxing outdoor living areas.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES
Land, sea and air transfers. Complimentary breakfast and Nespresso coffee machine with coffee. Wifi throughout, satellite cable SkyTV, climate control, personal mini fridges, wine cellar stocked with wine and champagne, L’Occitane amenities and luxury linens.
AROUND
Located at the confluence of the Atlantic Ocean and the Caraíva River, the little village of Caraiva is one of the most charming and unspoiled along Bahia’s Discovery Coast.
Accessible only by boat crossings on the river, the entire town is a sandy, laid back destination with just a few hundred inhabitants, unaffected by time and modernity. The centuries old Portuguese influences blend with the local Pataxó tribal presence (be sure to check out the famous handicrafts) in a mix of traditional and colonial history.
Its sand-covered alleyways don’t allow for vehicles except a few small golf style carts that scoot between the traditional houses and the handful of restaurants and bars that come alive at night with live music that can last until the wee hours.
Days are all about discovering the breathtaking natural beauty of the area including the spectacular biodiversity of nearby Monte Pascoal National Park, and the stretches of sparsely populated beaches where during low tide you can explore the coral reefs and natural pools that form.
Barra beach directly in front of the villa is a unique natural habitat where the tides and the river meet, while you can also walk to nearby Satú beach, head to the gorgeous Mirror Beach by boat, or take a ride to Ponta de Corumbau in the Mother Village of Barra Velha.
An environmental jewel, this region of Bahia attracts those seeking peace, privacy and remarkable natural beauty. Trancoso is an hour north and Porto Seguro is two hours north.
