AROUND
The property is located on the Alentejo coastline, only minutes from Praia do Pego, one of Portugal’s most acclaimed beaches. It is known for its excellent water quality, clean sand and ease of accessibility. It’s also long enough that you’ll be sure to find a private space. Nearby there’s a great restaurant and cocktail bar. From the beach, you’ll be able to see Arrabida Natural Park, which is located on the northern shore of the Sado River.
The village of Carvalhal is just fifteen minutes from the breezy beach town of Comporta and its gorgeous 60km long beach. A former fishing village, it has recently become very popular but still retains its laid back vibe and windswept natural beauty. It is ninety minutes from Lisbon and within easy reach of the Tróia Peninsula (a 17km long beach). The Natural Reserve of the Sado Estuary is close by – one of the most beautiful beaches in the country and a great location for watching dolphins and storks. Other local attractions include the Serra de Grândola mountain, which is great for hiking and biking, the Moorish town of Santiago do Cacem, with its quaint cobblestone streets and fortifications, and the ancient Roman settlement of Miróbriga.
The house is surrounded in farmland, and as a result you’ll be able to pick up abundant local produce.
